‘Star Wars: Episode VIII’ Is ‘Much Darker’ According To John Boyega

John Boyega was interviewed by Vogue following up on his BAFTA nomination for an EE Rising Star award. (Please note: the interview contains a huge spoiler for Star Wars: The Force Awakens). The 23-year-old Englishman plays Finn, the heroic former Stormtrooper or traitor scum, depending on who you ask. Now we also know for sure he’s starring in Star Wars: Episode VIII, as he spoke a bit about the next movie during the interview.

Boyega revealed he’s just started working on the next film — which opens May 26, 2017 — and he’s been hitting the gym because “my part in the next film will be much more physical.” He also revealed a bit about the tone of the next episode: “It’s great. Much darker, but we’re very excited.”

Darker tone? So, we suppose the title That’s So Rey-Finn is right out? But how about Looper and Episode VIII director Rian Johnson’s dream about a Jedi fighting a dog in a canoe? Can we still get that? Could probable villain Benicio del Toro play the dog? I have good suggestions. I could stay here all day talking about it, making diagrams with straws.
