What We Know So Far About ‘Star Wars: Rogue One’

There’s a few things we know about the first Star Wars spin-off film, Rogue One. For starters, it has a terrific pedigree: Gareth Edwards (Godzilla, Monsters) is directing a cast of Mads Mikkelsen, Forest Whitaker, Felicity Jones, Alan Tudyk, Diego Luna, and Ben Mendelsohn. The film will take place during the time of Episode IV: A New Hope, and will see our protagonists attempt to steal the plans for the Death Star.

We also know that Rogue One will open up the doors for further spin-off films, another which will be a movie that focuses on the early years of Han Solo and Chewbacca — that film is due to bow in 2018, around the time of the eight installment in the series of Star Wars films. There will be new villains and heroes introduced in the series that will tie into the original series of films, something that’s both exciting to fans of the original films as well as newcomers, who have embraced J.J. Abrams new vision that he created with Episode VII.

Early looks at Rogue One have brought about nothing but glowing endorsements for the film, and we’ll finally get to see this initial spin-off in December, when it hit theaters across the globe. Check out the video above for what we can expect from Rogue One.
