The long-in-development adaptation of Stephen King’s epic fantasy series The Dark Tower continues to surge ahead. The movie has already locked in a couple of big names in Matthew McConaughey and Idris Elba, and now we have word they’ll be joined by Abbey Lee, the supermodel-turned-actress who made a splash as one of the wives in Mad Max: Fury Road.

According to Deadline, Lee is the movie’s female lead, and will be playing a character named Tirana. Oddly, there isn’t any major character named Tirana in Stephen King’s original books. Deadline provided some additional details, saying Tirana is “sexy and dangerous” and has “fake human skin and cold snake-like eyes.” Speculation is Tirana is based on a minor character from one of the later Dark Tower books that’s being blown up into a much more important character. Time will tell.

The Dark Tower is being helmed by Danish director Nikolaj Arcel and stars Elba as gunslinger Roland Deschain, and McConaughey as the evil Randall Flagg. The movie is scheduled to arrive January 2017 and is, of course, expected to spawn an ongoing series.

What do you think about Abbey Lee’s casting? Any Dark Tower fanatics out there care to speculate on who her Tirana character might be? Sound off, below.
