Here’s What Poe Dameron’s Flight Vest Says In ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’

One thing you may have noticed in Star Wars: The Force Awakens is that Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac) is super dreamy. Er, what I meant to say is, he’s one hell of a pilot and has really cool clothes. Yeah, that’s what I meant.

Not only has his cool jacket become an instant wish list item for cosplayers, but the writing on his flight suit has sparked a bit of a mystery. It appears to be written in Aurebesh, but not quite. What could it possibly say?

“J.J. Abrams named me after a polar bear“?

“Did you see me dancing in Ex Machina“?

“I brake for cute Stormtroopers“?

Well, You Need A Piilot has done the work for us. Here’s what the Aurebesh alphabet looks like:

She realized the writing was upside down, so X-wing pilots could read their own vests easily.

And what do you get when you flip the letters upside down to show what the person wearing it would see? It says, “PULL TO INFLATE.” Yeah. It’s a f*cking life vest. Star Wars fans have been zooming in on pictures of Poe Dameron and trying to decipher what his flight suit says… and it’s just a life vest. Another obsessive Star Wars mystery solved.

At least it didn’t say “Be sure to drink your Ovaltine.”
