Kelly Oubre Jr. just wants to look his best, is that too much to ask? It is if you’re NBA officials and see the Washington Wizards guard wearing a Supreme leg sleeve during game on Tuesday night.
Oubre broke out the Supreme X Nike shooting sleeve on Tuesday night in a game in Brooklyn against the Nets, and he turned some heads online. But it also appears that he also made waves with some NBA league officials, as word trickled down to Oubre that he had to change the sleeve he wore on his right leg back to something more plain.
Here’s the sleeve he wore that fans recognized from the Supreme collection earlier in the game.

Afterward, Ourbe explained that trainers told him someone from the league said he needed to take it off.

“They made me change it. It was just what I was informed through one of our trainers, he was like switch leg sleeves, so I switched no questions asked,” Oubre said, though his questions were coming later. “It has the NBA logo on it. It has the Nike sign. The NBA is sponsored by Nike. It’s just Supreme. So I don’t really know what’s the quarrel.”
Oubre’s logic isn’t that far off here, though Supreme isn’t an NBA sponsor, it’s collaborating with the league and Nike here. And Oubre is just out here trying to shine, so why punish him for getting a hold of some high fashion?
“They shouldn’t have sold it to me or they shouldn’t have dropped it if we can’t wear it and it has the NBA logo on it,” Oubre said. “I play in the NBA, right? So I should be able to play in anything that has the logo and represent. So I don’t really understand the movement behind that.”
Maybe, he concluded, he just looked too good out there.
“I don’t know if it was too wavy for them,” Oubre said. “I had fun. I was just having fun.”
It was fun! But fun cannot be had when there’s money to be made. Sorry, Kelly.
