… it’s Russell Westbrook’s trophy, right? Again, he’s averaging a triple-double for a full season as he drags an Oklahoma City Thunder team to the playoffs one year after losing Kevin Durant in free agency. It seems like a slam dunk (basketball term) but who knows?
Nate Robinson knows. At least, he knows who he’d pick for MVP — Westbrook.
“I gotta go with my guy, Russ. I’ve watched the hard work he’s put in and what he’s doing the Thunder. I mean, they play so well together. He plays with an energy — kids, if you’re watching Westrbook, that’s how you want to play the game. You want play the game hard. You want to play the game with passion and fire. He’s been doing his thing out there. He’s having fun and doesn’t care what anyone thinks of him. He loves his teammates. He makes everybody better. He’s a workhorse.”
Like, imagine if Ezekiel Elliott went to the New York Giants this season. And Dak Prescott ended up throwing for 30 touchdowns and rushing for 20 more as the Cowboys went 11-5 without Elliott. And despite all this, someone was like, “What about Drew Brees for MVP?” No, man. It’s Dak.
Anyway, if Westbrook has to share this MVP with someone, he shouldn’t show up to the ceremony. Let it fuel him like Durant leaving did, then put up 40-15-12 for the entire 2017-18 season.
