Heather Morris Reacts To Her Controversial ‘Dancing with the Stars‬’ Elimination After A Perfect Score

Competitive reality TV is a cruel, unforgiving beast that sometimes unfairly giveth and taketh away, especially when the fate of contestants rests not on experienced professional judges, but viewers at home. Look no further than the meteoric rise of Sanjaya Malakar (Sanjaya!) in 2006 to that point.

Former Glee star Heather Morris experienced this cautionary tale firsthand Monday night after getting eliminated from Dancing with the Stars despite having received a perfect score for her rumba with partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy, choreographed to TLC’s 1994 hit “Waterfalls.” Not only were Morris and Chmerkovskiy awarded perfect 10 scores by all four judges, but it was even the first perfect score of the season.

To add literal insult to injury, the pair managed the feat after Chmerkovskiy returned from being benched for three weeks due to an ankle injury.

Morris told E! News of the elimination, “You don’t know what’s going to happen with these things, but I was very, very happy for the last time to be amazing and to get to dance with Maks again…we missed that for the last three weeks.”

Fellow competitor Nancy Kerrigan remarked that “the whole thing stinks,” as they had been working together as a team and spending a lot of time together. “We were thinking with the two groups maybe they wouldn’t send anyone home because they were really strong teams,” she said.
