None of us need to be told that Carly Rae Jepsen is high art. There’s no one better at mining that confusing first-step-off-the-ledge moment of baring your emotions out to another person. She makes pop music that sounds like the wind rushing past your ears as you freefall into catching feelings. It’s absolutely art, monstrous hooks and all. The Toronto Symphony Orchestra has your back in this argument. The classical ensemble is performing her odes to new love, fronted by the Canadian singer herself, in a one-night-only residency.
