The breakup between John Cena and Nikki Bella is still being felt, and will continue to be felt, and now it seems as thought that may be partially by design.
Allow me to clarify: I am not suggesting that we know for a fact that this breakup isn’t entirely on the level, or is merely a storyline, or any other such conspiracy theory (although it is always in the realm of possibility). I’m merely saying that however “real” the split of the WWE mega-couple may be, we now have confirmation that the companies will at least in some way be benefitting from the breakup.
Ever since the season three trailer for Total Bellas dropped, way back in January(!), we’ve known that there is SOME drama happening involving Cena and Nikki, and whether they want to continue on as a couple.
For several months, we assumed that this was just the standard Bachelor-style editing trickery rampant in reality shows, where it’s some small happening blown out of proportion to get us to tune in. But in light of the breakup that was announced last week by both parties, and all the resulting HOT GOSS, we know now that this is footage from the actual prelude of their actual breakup.
Brie Bella confirmed as much in an interview with People (via Yahoo!), and said that not only will the third season of Total Bellas feature footage leading up to the split, but that said footage is shockingly real and raw.
“I have to give a lot of credit to John and Nicole. They really opened up their lives and they really wanted to close the curtain and be like this is it, we’re done. My sister is really great with her fans in a way where she lets them connect with her. She lets them like go, ‘My life isn’t perfect and isn’t easy’ and lets them see the playbook of her life.
“John and Nicole allow the fans to see some very personal conversations, that to be honest, I was mind blown about. [Daniel] Bryan and I both said, ‘I don’t think we’d allow them to see those conversations’ but they do. I give them a lot of credit. You get to see where they’re at today and see that unravel.”
I’m honestly not sure if I’m prepared to watch these two split up for real on my television set. Keeping my fingers crossed that they’ll be able to work out their differences for the FOURTH season of Total Bellas.
