Marcell Dareus Claims His Anti-Bills, Pro-Weed Instagram Post Was A Hack Job

Marcel Dareus has had a frustrating season. Just over a year ago, he signed the biggest guaranteed contract for any non-QB in football at the time, and it was well-earned for one of the most dominant interior forces in the NFL. This year, he’s missed nearly the whole season with suspension and injuries as the Bills have once again struggled. Still, as frustrated as he might be, an Instagram post like the one that went up on his account on Wednesday morning gives one pause:

The photo, the caption of which begins “F*** the @buffalobills I love weed” and doesn’t get much better from there, was deleted hours later, and Dareus claims he was hacked. There have been instances in the past when we’ve been suspicious of such claims as excuses to weasel out from unintended honesty, but considering how the tone of the piece sounds like what a disgruntled fan would claim of Dareus — “I got paid and didn’t really play” just sounds off — we’re inclined to believe Dareus on this one.

At 5-5 and with poor tiebreaker scenarios, the Bills are very much on the outside of the playoff picture looking in. But if Dareus can get healthy again and play with an attitude defying his hacker, maybe he can help key a defensive turnaround.
