The Vikings Had The Mountain From ‘Game Of Thrones’ Help Introduce A Draft Pick

The third day of the NFL Draft is a grind for teams, the media, and fans dedicated enough to watch rounds four through seven. The best known college football stars are mostly off of the board, so many of the selections are guys even fairly dedicated football fans aren’t very aware of, and teams are usually filling depth needs, so there aren’t many flashy picks. That said, it’s all still broadcast in its entirety on TV, so to spice things up, they have the picks announced at team draft parties around the country.

This brings a little more excitement than having the deputy commissioner rattling off picks on stage in Philadelphia, and it also allows them the chance to jazz things up with pre-produced packages and have celebrities or former players tease the upcoming pick. For the Vikings fourth round pick, No. 120 overall, the NFL dug deep into their bag of tricks and called on Hafthor Bjornsson, better known as The Mountain from Game of Thrones, and his fellow Iceland Strongman teammates to help introduce the selection.

The thing I can’t get over is that these are some of the world’s strongest dudes standing around Bjornsson and he still looks considerably bigger than them. I choose to believe that the Vikings called him and asked if he wanted to come be their new left tackle, and he denied, so they just had him to do this instead. For Ben Gedeon out of Michigan, this is a pretty sweet way to find out you’re getting drafted, and if the Vikings try to cut him he should request trial by combat and call The Mountain in to help.
