Because it’s been nearly three years since ASAP Rocky’s last album, At. Long. Last. A$AP, it feels like he’s been on an extended hiatus. But the Harlem MC has actually been quite busy, rocking shows all over the world, hopping on major hits like “No Limit” with Cardi B and G Eazy, locking in endorsement deals with the likes of Under Armour and much much more. So, yeah, Rocky hasn’t dropped an album but he’s been working hard, and now it seems like he’s gearing up for his official return as he decided to drop a new track and tease a project titled Testing, igniting anticipation for whatever it is he’s getting ready to release.

Rocky randomly dropped “5IVE Stars” on an A$AP affiliated Soundcloud account, a brief but bouncy new track seemingly attached to the unexplained project Testing. Over a haunting production, Rocky hops around with a stunted and subdued flow, throwing down his usual mix of stunting about his model women, his designer clothes and his own modeling for Christian Dior, “down to the socks.” It feels like an appetizer for something bigger from Rocky, and in time we may find out that’s exactly what this is, but in the meantime it should be more than enough to hold over salivating fans waiting for a new album from the A$AP frontman.
