Beyonce Takes A Trip To The Funky ’70s With An Epic Soul Train-Themed 35th Birthday Party

After an unforgettable weekend spent chilling at Camp David with Michelle Obama, hanging out with Slick Willie at Made In America where Chance The Rapper channelled his inner Michael Jackson impersonator and sang to her, Beyonce topped off her 35th birthday Monday night with a Soul Train-themed party.

Jay Z (Jimi Hendrix), Solange Knowles, Chance The Rapper, Kendrick Lamar, Usher, The Dream, Diddy and Cassie, Lala and Carmelo Anthony. Alicia Keys and Swizz Beatz were just some of famous names who partied with Queen Bey as she celebrated her big deal. The superstar was a vision of ‘70s beauty as she boogied the night away in short shorts, a lantern sleeves blouse and platform heels. Day Ones Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams were also attendance for an unofficial Destiny’s Child reunion. Even her “Yonce” squad, models Chanel Iman and Joan Smalls, came through. And even though it was way, way past her bedtime, Blue Ivy, rocking rough and tough with her afro puff, couldn’t pass up all the fun and was also spotted wishing her mom a happy Bey-day before being put to bed.

Swizz Beatz served as the DJ and kept the party going on with a playlist of all of your mama’s favorite old school jams. Frankie Beverly and Maze’s “Before I Let Go,” The Gap Band’s “Early In The Morning,” Chaka Khan’s “Sweet Thing,” Meli’sa Morgan’s “Fool’s Paradise,” and Funkadelic’s “One Nation Under A Groove” just to name a few. But pretty much all the songs you’d want to hear at a Soul Train themed-birthday party.

And a Soul Train-themed birthday isn’t a real Soul Train-themed party unless there’s a Sooooooul Train line. After a quick change of outfits, perfection personified Beyonce busted out in a super sexy jumper before backing that ass up on a cool and calm Jay Z.

Fun times! My invite was obviously lost in the mail. Fedex it next time, Bey!
