Cam Newton was benched to start the Panthers’ game against the Seahawks, apparently due to a disciplinary issue. As the game wore on (he penalty backfired in Ron Rivera’s face thanks to a Derek Anderson interception), word came out that Cam had been benched due to a “dress code violation.”
As you can imagine, people were shocked to hear that might be the reason.
So what was it, Cam? Moccasins for cleats? Live snake for a hat? Monkey-vest?
Oh, man. Seriously?
Riverboat Ron and Cam himself might both have some questions to answer after the game, and now we’re all just dying to see what Cam wears to the press conference.
Newton’s sartorial choices are a weekly topic of conversation, and should probably have their own tumblr by now (quickly checks to see if ‘Newton’s Clothing Law’ has been registered as a domain yet). But this must go a little bit deeper. Right? Either this has been a repeated offense and Cam was on double secret probation, or Rivera makes it explicitly clear in the team rules that ties are mandatory, or there’s something else going on behind the scenes. Regardless, this is an ongoing saga. Law and Order: YKK (do you get it those are the letters on a zipper) is coming to NBC this spring.
