Chance The Rapper Takes ‘SNL’ To Church With An Incredible ‘Finish Line/Drown’ Performance

With Christmas just a week away, Chance The Rapper just took SNL viewers to church with a memorable performance of “Finish Line/Drown” from his critically acclaimed hip-hop gospel “album” Coloring Book. While the lengthy original features gospel legend Kirk Franklin, Chano held his own “directing” the choir and bringing the electric energy Franklin is known for. The rapper was also joined by uber-talented female rapper Noname who totally slayed her verse to perfection.

The performance rounds out the incredible 2016 Chance has had. For starters, this was his second appearance on SNL after making history last year by being the first “unsigned” artist to perform on the program. Coloring Book also made history this year by being the first album to chart on the Billboard Top 200 based on pure streaming. The project received high praise and made its way to many Top 10 lists of 2016, and earned the Chicago rapper three Grammy Award nominations, including Best Rap Album.

All neat stuff for an independent artist without a record deal.
