In mid-June, DJ Quik cryptically tweeted about about suing an unidentified Compton. “Guess what Compton rapper I’m about to sue?” he said in one tweet. “You’ll see” is what was said in the follow up. The tweets were later deleted but the people were interested in knowing who Quik was talking about. A little less than two months later, Quik’s latest round of tweets reveal YG may be the previously unnamed artist.

Quik had some choice words for the Bompton rapper on Twitter, saying that he engineered YG’s 2013 hit song “My N*gga” but hasn’t received credit. The producing legend tweeted at YG, his management, Jeezy, and even the Def Jam records Twitter account. Quik is demanding restitution for the work he’s done and wants a platinum plaque associated with the record.

As of now, YG only has one thing to say to DJ Quik.

It might strike one as odd to see this sort of heated exchange for a record that was released in 2013. The reason for any unpaid work is likely to be made public if there’s going to be a lawsuit involved. With such little information available at the moment, the only thing left to do is wait for the facts. There is hope that things won’t take a turn for the worst, as one of Quik’s tweets to YG was to “be safe on the block I invented.” Let’s hope it doesn’t go that far.
