Grand opening and grand closing on the rap beef that never really was. After false rumors completely made up by radio personality Ebro Darden that we were on the verge of a rap war, Drake brought out Eminem Tuesday night at the Detroit stop of his Summer Sixteen tour.
It was a well-received surprise when Eminem popped up from a hidden door on the stage and performed his verse from the 2009 hit, “Forever.” After doing their thing together, Drake humbled himself and bowed down to the rap god while excited fans screamed with joy before Drake called Em the GOAT. “Detroit, make some noise for the greatest rapper to ever get on the motherf*cking mic who goes by the name Eminem,” Drizzy yelled to the totally amped up crowd at Joe Louis Arena. “Legendary sh*t tonight!” Legendary indeed.
So, sorry Em fans. Slim Shady won’t be dissing Drake or ending his career anytime soon, if ever. They’re buddies. Now we just have to wait for Drake to bring out Kendrick Lamar during the Los Angeles stop of his Summer Sixteen tour in September. Okay, that might be a little bit of a reach, but it would definitely be something worth writing home about.
