It goes without saying, but 2017 was a huge year for Cardi B thanks to the breakout success of “Bodak Yellow,” which became the top song in the country and helped establish Cardi B as one of the most colorful and engaging figures in all of pop culture. If you ask Lorde (whose Melodrama is nominated for Album Of The Year), though, Cardi B may not have gotten enough credit.

When asked in a recent interview about who she thought got snubbed from this year’s Grammy nominations, she said that Cardi B deserves more love than she got:

“I can’t remember — I’m literally Googling ‘Grammy snubs’ to see if I can think of something. Oh, f-ck! Cardi B should have gotten a nomination in one of those big categories. She kind of defined 2017. I wish Jack [Antonoff] got nominated for producer of the year, but still he’s well represented, I feel.”

Cardi B was definitely recognized by the Grammys in a big way, though, even if it wasn’t in categories like Song Of The Year or Record Of The Year: She got two nominations (“Bodak Yellow” for Best Rap Song and Best Rap Performance) and she’ll be performing during the ceremonies. She also expressed her gratitude when the nominations were announced, writing on Instagram, “Two of them!! Thank you Lord. I️ couldn’t be more grateful.”
