Grandmaster Flash And The Furious Five Member Kidd Creole Has Been Arrested And Charged With Murder

Kidd Creole of the pioneering rap group Grandmaster Flash And The Furious Five has been arrested in connection to the murder of a homeless man. Creole, real name Nathaniel Glover, was arrested after allegedly stabbing and killing a homeless man in Midtown Manhattan. Police say that the incident came after Glover interacted with the man and believed he was “hitting on him” according to the New York Daily News:

“They had no prior relationship,” the source said. “They had words. Things got out of hand. It was some sort of diss.”

Glover thought the victim was hitting on him, another source said.

“He turned, interpreting that the guy was making an advance toward him,” the source said. “One thing led to another, and he shivved him twice in the chest,” the source said.

TMZ adds that the man allegedly called Glover a “gay slur” to spark the incident. The man was assisted by several pedestrians and tourists who called 911 after believing the man had just passed out on the sidewalk. It wasn’t until first responders arrived that they realized he’d been stabbed, rushing him to Bellevue Hospital Center according to The Daily News where he later died.

Glover was identified by nearby security camera footage and works as a handyman and security guard near where the incident took place according to Rolling Stone. The footage helped lead to his arrest on Wednesday night.

Glover entered the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame alongside Grandmaster Flash and the other members of the Furious Five in 2007, the first rap group to receive the honor, and was scheduled to play with the group at a concert in Philadelphia on August 20th.
