Isaiah Rashad’s ‘4r Da Squaw’ Video Is All About Making It

The Sun’s Tirade is officially out and it culminates what’s been an interesting ride for Chattanooga’s Isaiah Rashad. To commerate the moment, he’s released a new video for ‘4r Da Squaw.”

Directed by Dave Free of the little homies and Christian Sutton, the clip features Rashad with his shorty enjoying a casual day on the boardwalk and in the sunshine, perhaps at ease now that the project’s completed. The only thing from the outside world that distracts from the father and son having fun are dollar amounts floating above the heads of the people they pass during their stroll. There’s something to be said about the priceless nature of raising a child contrasted with how money becomes a preoccupation in adulthood and everyone being worth a price to someone else.

There’s also the hook, which portrays Zay’s path since Cilivia Demo. He recently revealed how dark the days got between the release of album and the quest to conquer the sophomore slump. The drinking, the drugs, the whole almost being shoved off the TDE island before finding his way back on his path are nestled in those 10 lines. As much as he was “comin’ up,” there was still that “fear of growin’ up.” It’s natural since that passage from childhood to adulthood is a difficult one to navigate. But, the transition has to be intensely more challenging for a 22-26 year old trying to navigate their way through the record industry.

He may have bumped his head several times and fell on his ass a few more. He likely incurred his share of scars, just like so many of us do. Still, Isaiah made it and Tirade… is a testament to that. As a fellow Tennessean and someone who lived hard and fast too, understanding how important it is to make it is something I’m deeply in tune with. It’s at a certain point that truly understand that dollars make the world go round. But, there also comes an understanding that money isn’t everything. Living, learning and being there to pass the lessons on to your kids, friends, fam or any next man who needs a little light and wisdom means a whole lot, too. Especially for the kids though, so they prayfully don’t end up with as many scars as you did.
