Just Blaze Gave Lil Uzi Vert Fans A History Lesson On The Rock And Rap Connection

Every generation thinks that whatever their musical heroes are doing is far more important and impactful than whatever’s happened before, and eventually after. It’s just human nature. Of coarse, the history of popular music is long and it’s convoluted. There’s no linear narrative to be found, and genres and artists crossover and blend all the time. That’s especially true or rock and rap.

No one knows this better apparently than Just Blaze. The super producer was chilling on social media on Wednesday night when he happened upon a claim that seemed to blow his mind. Bryce Treggs, a wide receiver for the Philadelphia Eagles wrote on Twitter that, “Lil Uzi Vert is bridging the gap between rock and hip hop. Iconic. Hate if you want to.”

Blaze wasn’t about to hate on that claim, but he also wasn’t going to let such a it stand without a little bit of pushback either. Immediately, he invoked the names of Run DMC, Adam Yauch of the Beastie Boys and Onyx. He wasn’t done there however. He also also cited some of the biggest names in the history of rap, Lil Wayne and his frequent collaborator Jay Z.

And so it went.

He ended class with an incredible couplet. “if you need a reminder I know what to do. we may got 99 problems but, Rock and Rap ain’t new.”
