Did Jay Z Secretly Sign Lil Wayne?

Jay Z may be dusting himself off and trying again when it comes to signing Lil Wayne. As the story goes, Hov tried to sign Weezy to Roc-A-Fella Records in 2004 by lowballing him with a paltry offer of $175,000. It wasn’t a lot of money for someone of Wayne’s caliber then, and it damn sure isn’t a lot of money now. Wayne rightfully declined Jay Z’s disrespectful offer, ultimately re-upped his contract with Birdman and got his own label, Young Money, out of the deal. 12 years later, Roc-A-Fella is dead, Roc Nation’s kicking and Wayne is suing Birdman for $50 million over royalties and broken promises.

During his set at Tyler The Creator’s Camp Flog Gnaw concert over the weekend, Lil Wayne changed his “Cash Money Millionaires” lyrics to reflect his possible new label situation with Jay Z. “I’m a motherf*cking Roc-A-Fella millionaire,” Wayne rapped to fans who lost their sh*t at the possibility of Wayne being on Roc-A-Fel–er–Roc Nation.

We’ll have to wait on manager Cortez Bryant to clarify Wayne changing the lyrics. Last year, Weezy claimed he “just signed a deal with my motherf*cking idol, Jay Z” at KMEL and that turned out to be half-true. As Bryant explained, Wayne joined only Tidal as a co-owner.
