Love triangles suck. As someone who’s been in a couple, they’re incredibly stressful, weird, and always end in a mess. Nicki Minaj and T-Mobile want us to avoid that type of heartache when it comes to the music we stream and the pictures we upload.
This poor sap is two-timing Minaj with Snapchat, an offense punishable by death n most countries. He says Verizon made him choose and in my opinion, he chose poorly. Nicki and Snapchat walk off into the sunset in search of a man with unlimited data, something T-Mobile says it can give you with no strings attached unlike its competitors.
The streaming wars are real and every wireless network knows it. While I initially laughed at the idea of someone with Minaj’s bank account decrying the idea of paying for a Verizon phone bill, I realized her inclusion is more about artists rebelling against companies that put their fans in a pickle. If we have limited data, we have to make choices and sometimes that choice won’t be to stream The Pinkprint but rather keeping in touch with friends on Facebook or quenching that thirst on Instagram.
If the artists had it their way, we wouldn’t be put in such a bind and would have free reign to stream their music as often as we like and as much as they need without fear of penalty.
T-Mobile is often the leader in breaking conventions in the wireless game, so we’ll see how this plays out in the near future.
