UGK And Outkast Are Releasing ‘Int’l Players Anthem’ On Texas-Shaped Vinyl

Get On Down continues to do the Lord’s work. There’s probably not a better music boutique spot in the game if you love hip hop. Their latest offering is a Texas-sized treat for anyone who loves UGK and Outkast’s fuego on record, “Int’l Players Anthem (I Choose You).” On Black Friday — November 25 for those of you who don’t shop — the shop out of Boston is releasing the hit song on vinyl…shaped like Texas.

Record Store Day is a kind of a big deal. Every year, record stores get bombarded with consumers looking for a taste of some treasure in limited supply. It sucks coming up empty-handed, like that time I scoured the earth for the Guardians Of the Galaxy Awesome Mix Vol. 1 cassette tape only to be told by every store owner n a 15 mile radius they either never got it or sold out. The smart money is on the UGK and Outkast collaboration being just as limited and possibly going twice as fast. In a world where labels keep wondering how to sell records, Get On Down has the answers.

Next year, the song will be 10-years-old and it hasn’t aged a day over one. It’s still pulsating, potent, and exhibit W as to why Andre is one of the greatest to ever touch the microphone. It’s also a great way to cement Pimp C’s legacy as it’s probably UGK’s last hurrah. They went out on a high note rather than a low key seashell. DJ Paul and Juicy J blessed them with a beat evokes memories as soon as you hear it.

No word on whether you’ll be able to cop this from their website, but I’m figuring you won’t be able to. When you’re in the middle of making your Black Friday run for ginormous TVs, movies, video games, and the requisite pair of Jordan’s, don’t forget to pay your local record store a visit. There’s definitely a joke to be made about telling them “I choose you” but it just seems way too obvious.
