Playboi Carti And Lil Uzi Vert Share Their Infectious Exuberance In The Low-Fi ‘Lookin’ Video

Playboi Carti and Lil Uzi Vert are rapidly coming to define carefree, content-light-but-ridiculously-fun rap music, and the rest of us can only hope to be half as happy as they seem to be in the glitchy, low-fi video to their latest collaboration among many, “Lookin’.”

Released as part of ASAP Rocky’s AWGE initiative, the video finds Uzi and Carti roaming an avenue of mom-and-pop stores, shopping for clothes, and basically terrorizing the locals with their unique brand of high-energy joy. None of them seem to be particularly bothered, joining in the shenanigans as the video tosses odd VHS-inspired glitch effects like static and pixelation onto its stars and their locales.

“Lookin'” comes from Playboi Carti’s self-released 2017 debut album, and features more of the bubblegum trap, 808-heavy bounce of his megasmash “Magnolia.” Uzi turns in a typically simple, ad-lib-laden verse that belies his ability to actually rap with the best. The raw exuberance both rappers express here makes you wish they hadn’t canceled their proposed joint tour, just to experience this type of energy live.

Meanwhile, AWGE seems to be entering its second phase, if the video that Rocky dropped on his Instagram recently is to be believed. It looks like the website has been updated with new merch, as well as a forum page for fans to discuss their love of the AWGE collective. Rocky also announce the release of the AWGE Vol. 2 DVD, which will also be available on the updated site.
