Rich Homie Quan Says Technical Difficulties And Nerves Caused His Biggie Smalls’ Lyrics Slip-Up At ‘Hip-Hop Honors’

Rich Homie Quan’s human, therefore he is capable of making mistakes. Being the stand-up guy that he is, Quan didn’t duck and hide after screwing up Biggie’s lyrics at the VH1 Hip-Hop Honors show. Instead, he’s owning his gaffe and standing up for it “Like a Man.”

In a released statement, RHQ first makes it clear that he did not intentionally or even unintentionally mean to mess up Frank White’s lyrics. “I assure you that I never intended to disrespect the Memory of Biggie Smalls,” the statement reads. “I have long respected his work and his contribution to the rap game. I greatly apologize not only to Biggie Smalls, but also to all of my fans, Biggie Smalls fans and to New York.”

Quan makes it clear that he understood that it was a privilege to be on stage with the likes of the Queen Bee and other younger artists like Dej Loaf, Lil Mama and Teyana as they all looked to show praise to The Notorious K.I.M.

“I felt honored to stand on stage with artists I grew up listening to,” the statement continued. “Once on stage I had some technical difficulties and must admit I got nervous. I will forever be sorry New York, my fans, Biggie Smalls, Biggie Smalls Fans, Lil Kim, and all the Hip Hop community for my performance. I hope you can accept my apology. To Lil Kim, Thank you for the opportunity.”

Now, we can all put this behind us while Quan goes and listens to Ready to Die once daily for the next month as a form of penance.
