RZA ignorant as fuck. Where’s Clarence 13X from? The south; Danville, VA to be exact. Dumb nigga!
listen rza from now on when asked this question, simply state people are the same everywhere, you have smart people up north and down south, and dumb people too the end,and as far as hip hop goes people go to clubs in the south that’s why bass and club hip hop is so popular in the south over every other region, the girls wanna dance at the club, girls in general as exhibited by salt and pepa never cared about lyrics in any region,as far as lyrical content outkast, scarface, and alot of southern mc’s have focused on lyrical content but just like any other region most artist are only going to speak what they know and that’s the appeal they have ,people in similar circumstances can relate to what their saying but may not be as expressive as that artist, thus the art of hip hop,if your relatives are poorly educated and unevolved mentally your ignorance lies in the fact that you feel thats a representation of an entire region
@ GrownMan, slow down brother… 95% of these cats that claim 5%’ers probably don’t know who Clarence 13X is much less where he is from lol.
To the RZA and other cats in the North who feel the way he does and feel like Southerners are behind, how about you try this one out for a minute… When the Great Migration happened it wasn’t totally beneficial for blacks… White folks consolidated Blacks into tight spaces (which a # of people still live in) and they make money off you hand over foot… you don’t own any land, you don’t even own the benches that you sit on, to Southerners that is depressing and backwards. go out and get yourself a yard.
NYC has soooo much money but a large # of blacks are still fighting over the same crumbs, white folks come into the city, make money and then drive out of the city to their homes while our people have to live in that shit, white folks have been rapin NYC since the Great Migration
I love black people but Yankees are by far the most entertaining group ever. this is not a diss by any means but remember there are several different angles to look at a situation and this is how a lot of Southerners looks at yours…
She was forced to kick me out, no doubt/ Then I figured out Nick’s went for twenties down south-B.I.G.
be real, a lot of rappers from the south who are getting popular, and getting rich wouldn’t be able to get those deals in NYC or LA.
its no diss to dumb people from any part of the country, but there is too much good rap to try and compete with that gucci cat in the hat rap.
i love a lot of the southern rappers who are nice, outkast and luda and jay elec, but don’t take offense when i say a lot of your peers are talentless retards. because they aren’t your peers, they’re just dumb rappers from the same city as you.
Whether or not you like it, due to segregation the south has been educationally behind everyone else. Do the research. It changed in the last 10-15 years, but most these rappers are close to 30, so they grew up through this period of educational lockdown.
ok RZA, some of your comments in totality don’t make sense. You first started saying how your grandparents only had a 6th grade education and dropped out of school, then no more than 3 mins later you talk about how 8 or 9 of the 10 members of Wu Tang were felons and had dropped out of school….
the time period, limited opportunities, & LAW is why your grandparents were not in school, what was your excuse ??
Rep Seven City !!
First Rza broke it down but didn’t stay on the subject. I guess Gucci Mane has upset the whole rap game because it seems like that’s the ignorant one everybody is referring to. Jay Electronica is educated Scarface,Luda, UGK,Outkast, Killer Mike and T.I. are some articulate brothers but after listening to Kay Slay and Rza they make a point but what I don’t understand is 50 Cent talked about killing (BLACK ON BLACK CRIME) Jay Z (DRUG DEALER RAPPER) Biggie ( ROBBING NI**AS ON THE SLAVE BOAT) Dr.Dre (SMOKING MARIJUANA) Snopp Dogg (GANG BANGING) that seem to be Hip Hop’s blueprint for kats to get on.So why is it so bad when the South talks about the same thing. One thing I can say is it was alright when we where buying there records and making them rich but now that it’s our turn we some ignorant, slow porch monkeys.I say this there is nobody in New York that can fuck with Jay Electronica so if he can whole his weight than he can say stop hating on the South. By the way that’s where MLK came from one of the smartest black men ever.
Co-Sign number 7….complete contradiction on his part!!! and who says the south isnt intelligent just because we dont put it in lyrics?? we’re smart enough 2 know the business of rap and how to make the labels come 2 us vs us begging the labels and accepting any ol deal on our first albums like new yorkers did…thats y u dont hear southern artists complain about bootlegging, cause in the deals we structure out here, that bootleg shit dont hurt us…we get all the money up front and we get the tour money and own the masters…smdh at u niggas worried about lyrics!! an MC’s only job is to move the crowd, not sound like einstein every chance u get…no wonder u cant sell no records
If your smart u should show it in ur art. I mean lets face it… the south has a HISTORY of putting out some of the most bullshit music that hip hop has ever seen. I mean a HISTORY. Yeah NY got their garbage rappers and all. La too and all the other cities. But the south has a HISTORY. Look at Uncle Luke for crying out loud. LOL!!! Yeah Outkast, TI, Luda and some others are the heavy hitters for the south but they have a lotta bs around them. AND THEY NEVER LAST!!!! Wheres Dem Franchise Boys? DFL?? Soulja Boy fallin off… Rocko?? Young Bloodz??? Lil Jon just comin back after lke 5 years… and that album is gonna flop hard too… The only thing thats really making the south survive is the unity. Which they learned from 90s NY anyway. No disrespect to the south at all. But even the BOONDOCKS CALLED YALL OUT!!! And the guy that created the Boondocks is from Chicago so dnt make it seem like its just an NY thing. Yall gettin money. Ant nobody hatin on yall gettin money at all. Its just the product. I cnt even watch BET no more cuz its like the south is all over it with the bs music. Thank God for MC’s like Jay Z, Nas, Snoop, Bun B, Scarface… Even Scarface said the south doesnt have the best MC’s…
lol @ them both having a stutter.
Hiphop/Rap is in a bad state period. There are wackass rappers coming from every hemisphere let alone the South. RZA clearly contradicted himself with his whole “imma hide behind the theory of better education” rant. That alone deserves a big fatass “Come On Son!”. Truth be told Gucci Mane and his whole crew of short bus rejects are amongst some the toy soldiers leading the charge but certainly aren’t the only ones.
It’s a lot of corny lameass “niggers” up top too. They may not be dancing or making songs about candy paint jobs but certainly songs full of gratuitous gunplay, faux drug deals, and womanizing serve to be a hefty equivalent. The biggest problem with Rap now is its just too fuckin available. Everywhere u turn there’s someone posting a “free” style (the irony) or mixtape. Our new found love for technology has allowed the market/genre to become over-saturated. Rappers are like Roman Noodles. Who cant get those?
I remember a time when people would actually say & admit “Naw man I CANT rap”. Put on a beat and see if u hear that shit now. Pac & Big were not only HipHop Elite but more so like HipHop Police you just couldn’t drop that wackass stuff and not get aired out! Niggas was literally scared to come near a booth let alone a mic if they couldn’t really rap because there was such a high standard set for quality. Its hard to tell a nigga now that he cant rap when u turn on your radio, TV, or computer and u see bullshit from Lil B all the way to Tony Yayo.
However, It aint really the rappers who are the real problem. Its the old passionless White and Jewish guys in power who are green-lighting this monkey shit. They could careless about the essence or social importance of our culture. Its all about profit and controlling you and what your into. Stop supporting this shit and demanding better works. Stop going to they shows, stop using their ringtones, don’t even bootleg that shit. Most of these garbage as niggas in it for the money & fame anyway. So if it don’t make dollars it don’t make sense to them either.
My point is everybody WACK everywhere lets not turn this into a regional conflict. We’ve already lost two great men behind a smokescreen of East vs West Rap wars. Lets focus more on lyricism & content and rebuilding this great city called Hip-hop because we are the trendsetters and right now the biggest trend we need to set is that we don’t take that shit, even from our OWN!
RZA comments are straight insulting. I see what he is TRYING to say, but I guess too many blunts to the dome have screwed up his thought process. With that said, you are a COMPLETE idiot if you say, “nobody in New York that can fuck with Jay Electronica”. Seriously? There are plenty of cats who are either on his level or better. Ever heard of Joel Ortiz? Ever? Then you go on and mention MLK like he is the epitome of Black intelligence. You feeding into the comparison is no better than RZA and his comments. What it says is that you feel like RZA in reverse, however, he has a more popular voice so you are hearing his opinions more. Black people are always trying to separate from each other for some reason. Africans not liking American Blacks, Puerto Ricans not liking Dominicans, Most of the West Indies thinking they are better than Haiti(Which is in the West Indies). You idiots are playing into the hands of Willie Lynch. Get over yourselves.
Rza is wrong for making blanket statements without offering much in the way of information. That being said please don’t come on here and act like what he is saying is not founded in any reality.
Some of the worst graduation rates for blacks in the country (according to the department of education) are D.C. Georgia, Florida and Louisiana. Not if Rza had bothered to not generalize he would have found NY to be right there with those states as having some of the worst graduation rates for blacks in the country.
As far as rap lyrics, if you can honestly say that “historically” the south has not put out far more garbage than quality than we clearly have different understandings of what defines quality rap.
At the end of the day I think we can discuss issues without “separating” ourselves from each other. And to the point that black people are “always” separating themselves is true but that is called being human. ALL human beings do that…it is not specific to blacks and to infer that means that you are playing into the hands of Willie Lynch more than others.
RZA made no sense…. w.e lol im tired of this north south shit im from NY and we got sum wack ass rappers 2 for example Red cafe dude makes sum nice tracks but thats cuz the hooks be nice dudes verses are trash
it shouldnt be NY Vs. south it should be good hip-hop vs. Trash
and by that i do not mean underground vs. mainstream
yea rza fuked up wih this question here,
but i look at the video and from the jump i dont believe
his opinons and statements were genuine or honest
he started off by saying her never heard of JAY ELECTRONICA
RZA IF YOUR reading KNOCK IT OFF, is obvious this is about making
a statement and becoming relevant or setting a mark
which is never ever knockable nice come back i guess ?
and fact is some niggaz from NY NICE BUT JAY ELEC WILL FLAME NIGGAZ
WITH THE EXCEPTION OF A SLIGHT FEW SON REAL RAP
Me saying Black people separate themselves more than others does not play into Willie Lynch. Historically, this is where Black people on a whole fail. True, humans all across the globe to that, however, the difference is that we use it as a form of self hatred thus playing in to Willie Lynch. During World War II, White soldiers gave more deference to to their White prisoners than they did their Black counterparts. Yes, those Whites were separate from the Whites they captured, however, there was an allegiance AGAINST their Black bretheren.
Why do you have this notion that other cultures don’t use it as self hatred as well? There is plenty of evidence to that point. So you focusing on black makes me question your motives.
Question my motives? Why? I’m Black. What other people do is not of interest to me. You know the old question; “If everyone jumped off the bridge; would you?” I live AMONGST Black people so THAT effects me. Why can’t you understand that? Also, why would YOU question MY motives? What importance is it to you? If you don’t agree then that is great. That is what makes the world go around, but there is NO WAY you can make me feel differently. The separation AMONGST Black people bother me because I am Black. I speak on it because I am Black.
Well I am not small minded like you…that is for starters. To be so ignorant to say that what other people do does not interest you makes my point exactly. You come on here acting like only black people have this issue with self hate…if you got out of that bubble you would see that this problem is bigger than that. Since you seem proud to only deal with your small world I will leave you be. I however live on the planet earth…so I try and look at things from that perspective…catch up.
And F.Y.I. I am black as well. So stop saying it like that means you only have to concern yourself with black affairs.
