T.I. Rips Into Former Foe Floyd Mayweather Over ‘All Lives Matter’ Comments

As a rule of thumb, people should probably putting microphones and cameras in front of Floyd Mayweather Jr.’s face, as the retired boxing champ is always liable to say something stupid. Whether it’s a racist rant about his former rival Manny Pacquiao, some homophobia, backing noted racist Donald Sterling or just general mysoginy, Floyd has it all in spades and when he gets a platform he will spout off. As such, it wasn’t a surprise to see him go on an awkward All Lives Matter rant last week.

Now, when you can fight or can dodge fighting as well as Money Mayweather, it’s not often you get checked for popping off at the mouth. But T.I. clearly doesn’t fear Floyd and he took to Instagram Wednesday to go off on Floyd for his comments.

“This is socially irresponsible, inconsiderate and insensitive,” TIP said underneath a video of a portion of Floyd’s rant. “It mirrors delusional oblivion in a way only brainwashing tactics can achieve. This completely undermines & discredits the movements that fight for the plights of our people. You’re a leader whether you know it or not.”

T.I. has been outspoken on these issues, and even released an EP Us Or Else, focused on Black rights and police brutality. The two have, of course, had their share of issues in the past when Floyd was spotted with T.I.’s wife in Vegas and may have taunted the rapper, leading to an altercation on the Strip.

The beef was eventually squashed, and for T.I. this is bigger than all of that anyway. He even started off his message with the disclaimer that read “all our past personal differences and opinions of each other aside” and the man has a point.

He then checked Floyd for his conceited nature and his attachment to possessions rather than people and human rights. “Don’t get so lost in personal possession or individual achievement that you lose sight of the things that are larger than all of us.” Then he signed off, as he put it, respectfully, saying he just wants to enlighten Floyd not disrespect him. “Just know I ain’t looking to clown you,I’m just trying to enlighten you, hoping that with better insight you can use your powers for good.”

If I know Floyd like I know Floyd, he’ll be responding soon, and, depending on if it comes straight from him or his publicist, it could be juicy, or the best apology a couple hundred million dollars can buy.
