Update: It looks like Gotti will now be throwing the Roc up at shows and in videos. Shortly after “Castro” hit the ‘net, the Memphis rapper posted a pic of himself and Jay Z on Instagram with the caption “CMG x ROC NATION #ItsOfficial ? #WhiteOut.” Details are unknown so it’s clear if it’s a label or management deal. We’ll update as soon as more info becomes available.
Yo Gotti’s Cocaine Musik 9 is still a few days away from its release date but he’s giving everyone a fair chance to get ready with the release of new track called “Castro.” The self-proclaimed King of Memphis calls on a cast of all-star heavyweights here as Kanye West, Big Sean, Quavo and 2 Chainz all show up to lend their lyrical help. Gotti goes back and forth ‘Ye and Sean before handing over the mic to Quavo, followed by 2 Chainz. Of course, the last two are traditionally the scene-stealers when it comes to guest spots and neither disappoints. Yet, there’s just something comical about Tity Boi’s opener that gives him a slight edge here: “Anti, lame n****, Take your girl like a pain killer, Just saw a picture of your first baby momma, look like a train hit’er.”
It’s not the first time these artists have made an appearance together. Those with elephant memories will recall that the bulk of these guys were also heard together on “Champions,” which released back in June. At the time, it was thought the song would be included on G.O.O.D. Music’s Cruel Winter compilation but that project has yet to materialize.
“Castro” is the second time this week Gotti’s after the Kodak Black-assisted track “Weatherman” popped up on Kodak’s YouTube channel. Listen to both tracks below now while awaiting the December 23rd release of CM9.
