The ‘10 Cloverfield Lane’ director is stepping into ‘Black Mirror’

Dan Trachtenberg chilled and thrilled us with 10 Cloverfield Lane, and now we can expect him to do that again with Black Mirror.

The British anthology series got a 12-episode third season order from Netflix. Trachtenberg will direct one of those episodes, Deadline reported this morning.

The series is a Twilight Zone for the digital age, each standalone episode featuring dark social commentary about the advances and dangers of technology.

Among the cast set for episodes in season 3 are Bryce Dallas Howard, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Mackenzie Davis, Malachi Kirby, and Alice Eve.

10 Cloverfield Lane had me on edge for just about the entire film – and left me on edge for a while after I left the theater – so Trachtenberg seems like a perfect fit for the disturbing and frightening Black Mirror.

Charlie Brooker, who created Black Mirror, is writing all of the episodes for the new season. A season 3 premiere date has not yet been announced.
