’20 Feet From Stardom’ singers on awards season: We’re ready for some sleep

LOS ANGELES – From the tips that they gave us, Judith Hill, Tata Vega and Darlene Love have been probably doing a lot of vocal rest and drinking hot water with honey.

The “20 Feet from Stardom” singers and stars hit the red carpet at the 2014 Independent Spirit Awards yestersday (March 1) as one of their last stops to the Academy Awards. “20 Feet” is up for Best Documentary at the Oscars, and it took home the Spirit honor for the same category.

Before they headed in and won, the three gave HitFix some tips on saving their voice.

They also revealed that they're pretty ready for the awards season to be over. “It's about getting some sleep,” Love said.

Vega said she continues to be inspired by the film, that watching it has “given me something. I'm growing up.” Love said she can tell how genuinely fans have loved the flick. And Hill said that “not in a million years” did she ever think she'd be going to the Oscars.
