Almost two weeks ago, Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy and “The Force Awakens” star Daisy Ridley participated in a Star Wars press conference held in Japan. Inevitably, someone asked Ridley what was up with that bo staff her character Rey is holding in both the promotional images and the trailers. While neither woman would confirm if the staff is an electrostaff, they were surprisingly forthright about how the weapon plays into Rey”s character.
As Google Translate was having a difficult time translating the interview, all this information has been generously cobbled together by StarWars7News, using multiple translation softwares and a bit of paraphrasing.
During the interview, Kennedy bragged on Ridley, “She learned the b?jutsu fighting style. Rey uses the staff she has in the trailer to fight. Daisy”s gotten to be so good at b?jutsu that even grown men on the set fear it.”
Kennedy went on to confirm that Ridley trained with the same sword fighting choreographer used on “Game of Thrones.”
