269 days until Star Wars: Madame Tussauds brings a galaxy far, far away to London

Have you ever dreamed of taking a selfie with Han Solo? Or putting a hover-arm around Princess Leia? Well, Madame Tussauds of London is hard at work to make those dreams come true this May.

On May 16th, Madame Tussauds will unveil an interactive experience that will take guests through iconic scenes from Star Wars Episodes I – VI. The exhibit will feature 16 of the most famous heroes and villains from a galaxy far, far away. Among those included will be Luke Skywalker, Leia Organa, Han Solo, Anakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Qui-Gon Jinn, and Yoda.

For those of you unfamiliar with Madame Tussauds, a quick primer. Born Marie Tussaud, the young 18th century Frenchwoman became an wax figure apprentice just prior to the outbreak of the French Revolution. In a time before easy travel or telecommunications, accurate wax portraits were the only way many people ever saw their monarchs and other important figures. But Tussaud”s work was considered uncannily life-like. You can read about the extensive process here.

Or you can just sit back and enjoy a peek behind the curtain at these Star Wars figures in-progress. Even at this rough stage, the similarities are downright eerie.
