Angela Lansbury sings ‘Beauty and the Beast’s’ title song to celebrate 25th anniversary

Disney's Beauty and the Beast 25th anniversary Blu-ray/DVD is officially out everywhere movies are sold today, and a recent celebration from the Film Society of Lincoln Center had the original stars reuniting. It affords us an opportunity to watch the one and only Angela Lansbury sing the title song once again.

Lansbury may or may not be taking on a role on HBO's Game of Thrones next season, but she has no plans to retire anytime soon, and this performance from the Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center in New York proves she has no reason to. A little about the special event that took place this past Sunday:

It was here, in September 1991, that a work-in-progress version of “Beauty and the Beast” was first screened at the New York Film Festival — and received a standing ovation. This “tale as old as time” went on to break ground as the first animated feature film to receive an Academy Award® nomination, and twenty-five years later audiences of all ages continue to fall in love with this enchanting tale, its captivating characters and unforgettable, award-winning music score and original song, “Beauty and the Beast.”

The new home release includes a “new advanced sing-along version” of the film which is great because those songs are catchy. Here's Lansbury performing “Beauty and the Beast” at Lincoln Center. (Flicks and the City 2 were there to record the fun.)

Composer Alan Menken also did a brief Disney medley at the event.

Original Belle, Paige O”Hara, recently had some words of advice for the next woman to take on the role, Harry Potter's Emma Watson, and as for that new live-action film hitting theaters next year, we got a small look at a table read not too long ago as well as a preview images of some of the lively furniture. (Donna thinks they're nightmare fuel, but I find them adorable.)
