Channing Tatum worships Mila Kunis in international ‘Jupiter Ascending’ trailer

The latest international trailer for the Wachowskis' upcoming “Jupiter Ascending” seems to confirm what we all already knew: Mila Kunis is a royalty and Channing Tatum is not of this Earth.

After adapting the previously-existing properties “Speed Racer” and “Cloud Atlas,” the Wachowskis are back in original sci-fi territory, and while “Jupiter” doesn't look quite as mind-bending as “The Matrix,” the film's new international trailer provides plenty of eye candy and general sci-fi/fantasy weirdness. It's essentially a streamlined version of the second domestic trailer, with a few new shots and French subtitles.

Stylistically, it also looks to be very much of a piece with the ambitious-but-flawed “Cloud Atlas,” with its neon cityscapes, hi-tech primitivism and elaborate fantasy costumes all in tact.

In “Ascending,” the adorably-named Jupiter Jones (Kunis) is just an ordinary girl who is whisked away into interstellar drama by a heavily made-up, elfin space warrior (Tatum), who explains that she is royalty and the heir to the Earth. Standing in the bay is bad guy Balem Abrasax (Eddie Redmayne, “Les Miserables”) who is bent on harvesting (i.e: destroying) our planet ahead of schedule.

“Jupiter” also stars Doona Bae, Douglas Booth, Tuppence Middleton, James D'Arcy and former “Game of Thrones” patriarch Sean Bean.

“Jupiter Ascending” opens July 18.
