Donald Trump announces new ‘Celebrity Apprentice,’ and it features a ‘Sharknado’ star

Get ready to return to the boardroom.  This morning on “Today,” Donald Trump announced the premiere date for a new season of “The Celebrity Apprentice.”

This seventh celebrity edition, and 14th overall, is set to begin on Sunday January 4th with a two hour installment from 9 to 11.  It will then switch over to Monday nights where it will air from 8 to 10.

The show features teams of celebrities doing different tasks in order to raise money for charities they have selected.  Over the course of the season, the celebs are whittled down until only one, the Celebrity Apprentice, remains.

While the past several seasons of “The Celebrity Apprentice” have aired two hour episodes, this new season's two hour setup is different.  The announcement promises that every week will feature two boardrooms and multiple firings.  That makes these weekly two hours sound a lot like two back-to-back one hour episodes whereas the previous two hour installments have offered one longer episode each week.

This season's 16 contestants are: Johnny Damon, Gilbert Gottfried, Sig Hansen, Kevin Jonas, Lorenzo Lamas, Terrell Owens, Geraldo Rivera, Ian Ziering, Jamie Anderson, Vivica A. Fox, Leeza Gibbons, Brandi Glanville, Kate Gosselin, Shawn Johnson, Kenya Moore, and Keshia Knight Pulliam.

Naturally, in talking about the season and contestants, Trump had very positive things to say, “This season of 'The Celebrity Apprentice' is on point to be the best yet.”  He added, “With 16 extraordinary contestants bringing their energy to the boardroom, it is sure to be a hit, as always.”

Come January, you will be able to decide for yourself what you think of the new edition.  But, tell us now, are you excited for it?
