Exclusive clip: Russell Brand gives Oprah his addiction solution

If anyone is going to solve the drug problem in the United States, Oprah Winfrey is the best candidate we have for the job. This week on “Oprah Prime” (Sun. March 9 at 9:00 p.m.), Winfrey sits down for a one-on-one conversation with Russell Brand to talk about addiction. In this exclusive clip, Brand talks about what he sees as a first step toward solving the problem — and it might not be what you expect.

In the episode, the ever-loquacious Brand describes his experience as a recovering addict, shares his personal thoughts on addiction, his hope for a more compassionate perception of those struggling with drug addiction and how the recent passing of Philip Seymour Hoffman has caused him to reflect on his own sobriety.

Oprah also uncovers the personal stories of a mom of two and a former college athlete who both say they began using heroin following an addiction to prescription pills. They each share the effects of drugs on themselves as well as their family and friends.
