Ezra Miller and Michael Angarano play two very different characters — or, rather, their characters become very different characters — in “The Stanford Prison Experiment,” which recently premiered at the Sundance Film Festival.
But both actors are beginning to become pretty well-known for their recent projects' characters.
Angarano plays the gentle Dr. Bertie Chickering in Steven Soderbergh's Showtime TV drama “The Knick,” which earned a second season and will premiere later this year.
And Ezra Miller is just now stepping into some big shoes, as beloved comics character The Flash for part one of “Justice League,” out in 2017, and then in a standalone “Flash” film in 2018. The Flash is also rumored to make an appearance at the end of the highly anticipated “Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice” in 2016.
“I feel really happy about it one way. Actually having a steady job in my life is actually incredibly comforting,” Miller told HitFix in our video interview, of having his main gig sketched out for at least the next three years of his life. “Then of course there are the moments of responsibility-dodging, adolescent me that dwells inside that's like 'No, I don't want to!'… that at this point is a diminishing voice.
“Every time I think of that reality, it makes me extremely happy. I am really stoked. I would do it for 40 years. That contract could have said anything,” he said, laughing.
As for “The Knick,” Angarano, too finds it all “very exciting… I'll just say that season two, for all the characters, it's much more emotional. That's a very good word to describe it, because as I read it, I was very emotional,” he said. “Season 2 goes a little more inward on them.”
