FOX renews ‘New Girl’ for fifth season

FOX has renewed “New Girl” for a fifth season.

That upcoming season will include the Zooey Deschanel comedy's 100th episode, and since “New Girl” comes from FOX's sister studio (as opposed to, say, “The Mindy Project,” which is produced by NBC Universal), the network has incentive to keep it around even though its live ratings have become fairly modest.

Damon Wayans Jr. will be leaving the show at the end of this season, but the other castmembers will be sticking around.

After being in repeats for most of this month, the show's back with a new episode tonight at 9 guest-starring NFL defensive superstar J.J. Watt.

I haven't written much about “New Girl” this season, but I've been enjoying most of it. What does everybody else think? Are you happy Jess and her friends are sticking around? And how have you felt about this season overall?
