‘Insidious 2’s’ Leigh Whannell and James Wan on sequels and time travel: Watch

Is “Insidious: Chapter 2” really the final chapter in the hit horror series?

HitFix’s Chris Eggertsen recently sat down with director James Wan “The Conjuring”) and writer Leigh Whannell, who first teamed on the original “Saw” in 2004, to discuss the new film.

The duo discuss how the sequel came about, and Wan’s desire to re-visit the original characters (played by Patrick Wilson and Rose Byrne), and trying something completely new and different in the series’ universe.

They also talk about the idea of time-traveling within the framework of a horror film, and the possibility of a third film. Given the new film’s massive opening, it would be a surprise if the franchise was already wrapped up.

Wan also briefly touched on his next project “Fast & Furious 7,” saying that he aims to bring some tension and terror to the well-established, action-packed world of the franchise.

“Insidious: Chapter 2” is now in theaters.
