Jennifer Lawrence announces ‘Apocalypse’ is her last ‘X-Men’ movie

Jennifer Lawrence has stated that “X-Men: Apocalypse,” which comes out May 27, 2016, will mark her last outing as Mystique, the comely blue mutant of the saga.

There's no telling who will play Mystique going forward, but the title “Apocalypse” makes you wonder just how many X-Men will survive the movie anyway.

Lawrence has a bunch of other high-profile projects coming up, including “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part II,” “Joy,” a David O. Russell-directed biopic of Miracle Mop inventor Joy Mangano, and “The Dive,” a James Cameron-directed biopic of Audrey Mestre, who died attempting to break her own single-breath diving record. Maybe all that blue makeup seems like too much trouble when you can just make more Oscar season movies with Bradley Cooper and Robert De Niro.

Interestingly, all of the “X-Men: First Class” actors are contractually finished after “Apocalypse,” including Lawrence's boyfriend Nicholas Hoult. It's time for renegotiations, which almost certainly means Jennifer Lawrence will field some serious offers for a spinoff.
