Keira Knightley refuses to grow up in new ‘Laggies’ trailer

Despite the generation gap, Keira Knightley and Chloë Grace Moretz make pretty good besties in the trailer for the Sundance comedy “Laggies,” from indie vet Lynn Shelton (“Humpday,” “Your Sister's Sister”).

After turning down a marriage proposal from her boyfriend, the aimless Megan (Knightley) continues to avoid the adult responsibilities in her life and starts hanging out with teenage Annika (Moretz), who also happens to have a hunky single dad (Sam Rockwell).

“Laggies” seems like it could be Shelton's breakthrough to a more mainstream level, and the trailer reflects a commercial gloss and amiable likability that nonetheless doesn't do much to distinguish it from a lot of similar Sundance-spawned titles.

It boasts an impressive ensemble cast which also includes Jeff Garlin, Elle Kemper, Kaitlyn Dever and Mark Webber.

“Laggies” opens September 26.
