She made it after all!
Tube icon Mary Tyler Moore has been chosen to receive the Screen Actors Guild”s prestigious Life Achievement Award.
The actress will be presented the annual award at the 18th Annual SAG Awards, which will air live on TNT and TBS Sunday, Jan. 29 at 8 p.m. ET.
A seven-time Emmy winner, Moore has also been nominated for a Tony and an Academy Award.
Moore was initially known for her performance on “The Dick Van Dyke Show,” before developing her own show at CBS through her production company, MTM, with her then-husband Grant Tinker. The program, “The Mary Tyler Moore Show,” is considered a landmark in TV comedy.
MTM Enterprises went on to produce such acclaimed shows as “The Bob Newhart Show,” “Newhart,” “WKRP in Cincinnati,” “Hill Street Blues” and “St. Elsewhere,” plus “Mary Tyler Moore” spin-offs “Rhoda,” “Phyllis,” and “Lou Grant.”
Moore received an Oscar nomination for Robert Redford’s 1980 “Ordinary People,” and also appeared in films including “Six Weeks” and “Flirting with Disaster.” More recently, she’s guest starred on such TV shows as “Ellen,” “That 70″s Show,” “Lipstick Jungle.,” and reunited with her “Mary Tyler Moore” co-star Betty White on the season premiere of “Hot in Cleveland.”
