Miranda Lambert won’t make rock records: ‘I’m country through and through’

LOS ANGELES – Miranda Lambert's performance of “Little Red Wagon” was pretty rock 'n' roll, but “I'm country through and through.”

The Grammy Award-winning star spoke backstage at the ceremony, telling HitFix that “I could sing any kind of music and it'd still be country because I'm from East Texas, as you can hear,” she smiled. “I love to have a rock element in my music. It's just fun and it give me energy, but I'm a huge classic country, so I'm somewhere in the middle.”

Lambert's 2014 set “Platinum” took home the award for Best Country Album, which is a nice start for what is “gonna set up the next decade of my career.” She said recording and writing this set took “extra time and extra effort,” which makes the win extra-special.

As for whether she would have preferred to perform later in the show as opposed to early on, as she did, “I would rather perform early so I can have a cocktail…”
