Original ‘Baywatch’ star Alexandra Paul has some advice for Kelly Rohrbach

As one of the longest-running cast members on the original “Baywatch,” Alexandra Paul (a.k.a. Lieutenant Stephanie Holden) knows a thing or two about running around in a red one-piece in freezing water on camera for money. So with word that

Parker in the upcoming movie, we reached out to the actress to see what advice she would give to the cast of the big-screen version, which also includes Dwayne Johnson, Zac Efron and Alexandra Daddario. First order of business: try not to look like a total amateur in the water.

“Learn how to swim really well,” Paul advised the big-screen cast. “You've gotta look like a real lifeguard. That would be my first bit of advice. A lot of people think that they can swim or that they're gonna use doubles, but I think that the film would be better served if the actors themselves did their swimming.”

You think she's joking? She is not joking. This woman has saved guest stars from literally drowning.

“I did an actual rescue when I was shooting a scene out in the ocean and the cast member just couldn't — this was a guest star — couldn't stay in the water that long, so I had to literally…carry them back to the shore,” she related, noting that the show didn't use stunt doubles “unless there was fire or high jumps.”

As for who should play the tall, sensible, helicopter-phobic Stephanie (who is allegedly in the script), Paul told me she'd need some time to ponder the issue: “I should probably think of that, cause I'm sure people will ask me that question,” she said. “You're the first person to ask me about the movie.”

And yes, Paul is open to a cameo: “Oh listen, shooting the television series was so much fun, I would be more than happy to get on the beach again for sure.”

“Baywatch” is expected for release in 2017.
