Outrage Watch: Ledisi fans put Beyonce on blast

Welcome to our special post-Grammys edition of Outrage Watch, HitFix's daily rundown of everything folks are peeved about in entertainment. Today's top story? Ledisi fans are furious with Beyonce.

The “Drunk in Love” singer may have lost out on Album of the Year to that virtually unknown whippersnapper Beck, but she got her moment to shine on Grammy night with a performance of the “Selma”-featured gospel standard “Precious Lord, Take My Hand.” As some critics would have you believe, it was also a moment that should have been Ledisi's — the singer and actress who performed the tune on the Ava DuVernay film's official soundtrack.

While the singer herself admitted to being “a little disappointed” about not being offered the opportunity, she was far more forgiving than social media watchers, who put the superstar on blast for what they saw as a blatant manipulation by Bey to steal Ledisi's spotlight:

Oh, come on. Beyonce's performance was so amazzzzzzzzz…

Want more? There's plenty of indignation to go around. See below for a full roundup of today's kerfuffles.

Outraged: Twitter users, Salon contributor Erin Keane
Target: Zach Braff
Why: In what Keane referred to as an “amazingly racist” tweet, the “Scrubs” star made his own dubious contribution to the “Who Wore It Better” meme by posting a side-by-side comparison of Pharrell Williams and, uh-oh, a monkey. Specifically, the bellhop-suited primate voiced by Braff in Sam Raimi's 2013 prequel “Oz the Great and Powerful.” Though the actor later apologized for entertaining the ill-advised comparison, the damage was already done.

“Do we really have to explain to Zach Braff why, out of all of the Pharrell outfit jokes from all the social media accounts, this one is not funny – it”s actually super racist?” wrote Keane.

“Holy god of all things good, @zachbraff you need to delete and apologize for that awful racist tweet,” added @iproposethis, just one of many outraged Twitter users.

Me? I'm still angry about spending ten bucks on “Garden State.”

Outraged: California resident Tania Warchol
Target: “Fifty Shades of Grey Come Alive Pleasure Gel” manufacturer Lovehoney
Why: After trying the movie-branded lubricant “on at least two occasions,” Warchol was so disappointed with the results she's filed a lawsuit against the manufacturer. “Based on Defendants' representations, Plaintiff believed the Product has powerful aphrodisiac qualities and would increase her sexual pleasure as advertised,” the complaint reads. “The Product did not deliver the purported benefits.” Possible to sue E.L. James for “Fifty Shades of Grey” in general, or no?

Outraged: Beyonce fans on Twitter
Target: Beck
Why: Perhaps taking a cue from Kanye's post-show rant, the Beygency made their voices heard following Beck's surprise win for Album of the Year last night, taking Twitter jabs at the star who is already his own worst enemy by being a Scientologist. While I don't agree with the sentiment expressed, I've gotta give it up to @SoDamnTrue for this gem:

Seriously, what is up with this multi-platinum unknown who's been making acclaimed records for more than 20 years stealing Beyonce's thunder?

Outraged: People who don't find Kanye West's Kanye-ness amusing
Target: Kanye West
Why: Oh, you hadn't heard? At last night's ceremony the rapper ranted that Beck should give Beyonce his Album of the Year award because, y'know, “art.” Inevitably, more than a few were offended by the rant. “It's good to know that however flawed we are there is a bigger douche out there than all of us combined,” wrote user @JeromeTaylor. Added @JonaLisa: “#KanyeWest should be permanently banned from attending #Grammys.”

On this morning's “The View,” Whoopi Goldberg also weighed in on the controversy by criticizing the rapper: “As an artist, Kanye, you know what it”s like when someone questions your artistry. I don”t know if you listened to Beck”s album, but it”s pretty damn good.” Meanwhile, let's please not rush to judgment on Bill Cosby.

Outraged: Salon contributor Katie McDonough
Target: The Grammys
Why: In an article posted this morning, McDonough criticized the ceremony's “domestic anti-violence portion of the evening” featuring President Obama, poet and abuse survivor Brooke Axtell and Katy Perry as “incredibly hollow,” targeting the organization's recent celebration of performers including R. Kelly and Chris Brown who have been accused and/or convicted of abuse and sex crimes in the past.

“While producers at the Grammys may, rightly, feel good about giving Axtell a platform, they also gave Chris Brown, a domestic abuser with a history of other violence, a platform in 2014,” she writes. “And Brown, along with alleged serial rapist R. Kelly, were both nominees this year.”

Also hollow? Katy Perry's entire discography.

Outraged: Geraldo Rivera
Target: CNN anchor Brian Stetler
Why: Rivera previously leveled criticism at Brian Williams' critics on Friday's episode of “Fox and Friends,” saying of his Twitter critics: “[those] attacking Williams from the safety of their mother”s basement [should]…shut up.” Now he's using the social networking service to blast CNN anchor Brian Stetler over his own criticism of Williams, writing:

My favorite part of this story? Geraldo thinks the word “pacifist” is an insult.
