Possibly the Best (& Cutest) Disney/Star Wars Mashup Yet: Jedi Elsa Rey

As a cosplayer myself, I always love seeing a new generation get into the fun. Well, we're ready to induct another kiddo into the HitFix Harpy family. Everyone say hello to Stormie and check out her Disney/Star Wars Jedi Elsa Rey costume!

Disney's Frozen made a huge impact on well, everybody. Whether you were a child who couldn't get enough of “Let It Go,” or a parent who feels they'll never hear the end of it, it's a classic here to stay. But just in the same way Elsa and Anna left huge impressions on kids, so did Star Wars: The Force Awakens' Rey. So why not combine the best of both worlds for one truly epic cosplay?

Meet Stormie. Her dad Steven Lamb (aka trustmeimasuperhero on Imgur) posted a series of photos of the mashup cosplay her and some helpers (he gives many thanks to Mike Lamb, Rusty Damante, and Katie Peterson) put together for her to wear at Wizard World Comic Con in Des Moines.

I reached out to Stormie's dad to get permission to share his adorable geek girl with the world and find out more about her and the costume. He told me the idea was born out of his daughter being so into Frozen, she wasn't branching out into other things. “She loved princesses, Captain America, and Lego Star Wars but if Elsa/Frozen were mentioned, she was having none of it. I didn't want that for her,” he told me. “I found some pictures of Elsa holding a lightsaber, and she liked those. Then I got her a Yoda hoodie to dress up in to go see The Force Awakens, and she loved playing while dressed up! That's when I got the idea.”

And wouldn't you know, the costume did the trick! Lamb told me, “It helped so much; now she is really opening up compared to before.” But you know how little kids can be, and the creation of the project had a few bumps.

She was excited about the idea, but she didn't love being measured and having to try everything on so many times. It took about 4 months for me to complete and a lot of that was just ordering swatches of fabric and choosing the cloth and colors. I had never done anything like this before. She loved it, though. Once her hair was finished and her costume was on, she was ready to go.

And when the big comic convention day came, Stormie was ready for it all. “She's very intelligent and well behaved, and on that day she was even more so,” Lamb told me. “She was so happy, and there were so many great cosplayers there that wanted to take pictures of her and with her. They were all so great with her. It made for an incredibly memorable experience. She handled it all very well, and I couldn't be happier or prouder.”

Take a look at Stormie and friends in action at Wizard World and find out more about how her dad and his helpers put it together.
