Breaking News: Brittany Murphy dies

Update 7:45 PM PST: According to CNN and The Los Angeles Times, the Los Angeles Police department will investigate Murphy’s death, but do not suspect foul play.  The death is being labeled as “natural causes.”  An autopsy is planned and could take up to eight weeks for results.

Original report: Reports indicate that actress Brittany Murphy has passed away from cardiac arrest this morning.

According to TMZ, the 32-year-old star of “Sin City,” “8 Mile,” “Clueless” and “Happy Feet” could not be revived after arriving at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center this morning in Los Angeles.  The Los Angeles City Fire Department initially responded to a 911 call made at 8:00 AM this morning from a home listed as being owned by Murphy’s husband Simon Monjack.

The Atlanta native was recently fired from an upcoming thriller currently shooting in Puerto Rico, although she and her management disputed that fact.

Among Murphy’s other credits were the well liked indie drama “The Dead Girl,” “Love and Other Catastrophes,” “Don’t Say A Word” and “Just Married.”  The charismatic actress and singer showed tremendous talent, but rumors of drug abuse and irratic behavior severly hampered here career.

Murphy had a tremendous singing voice which she demonstrated on the “Happy Feet” soundtrack (“Boogie Wonderland,” “Somebody to Love”). She also collaborated on the 2006 dance hit “Faster Pussycat” with Paul Oakenfold which reached #4 on the U.S. Dance charts and #7 on the UK singles chart and became one of the DJ’s biggest singles to date.
