‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’: Michael Keaton in talks to join as villain

First he was in Batman. Then he was in Birdman. Now it”s starting to look like Michael Keaton could be in the next Spider-Man.

Variety is reporting that the perpetually-rebooted superhero series is in talks with the Golden Globe-winning actor to play a villain in Spider-Man: Homecoming. The film will feature Tom Holland as the Webbed Wonder and Marisa Tomei as Aunt May.

Keaton has had good luck in the superhero genre. He starred as the Caped Crusader in the 1989 movie Batman as well as its 1992 sequel Batman Returns. Those two films were huge hits for Warner Bros, grossing an inflation adjusted $1.2 billion.

The newest Spidey movie will be directed by relative newcomer Jon Watts and is scheduled for a July 2017 release.
