TV Ratings: ‘Big Brother’ leads CBS Sunday as ‘Rising Star’ dips

Fast National ratings for Sunday, July 20, 2014.

After a few weeks of stability and growth, ABC's “Rising Star” dipped on Sunday, allowing “Big Brother” and CBS to claim primetime victories in all measures. 

ABC still finished second overall, though “America's Funniest Home Videos” played a bigger role than “Rising Star” did. 

FOX, meanwhile, was second among young viewers thanks to animation repeats.

On to the numbers…

Among adults 18-49, CBS averaged a 1.1 rating for Sunday night, edging out FOX's 1.0 rating in the key demographic. ABC's 0.9 key demo rating was a close third and NBC's 0.8 key demo rating wasn't far off either.

Overall, CBS had much more breathing room, averaging 6.15 million viewers and a 3.9 rating/7 share for Sunday, far ahead of the 4.07 million viewers and 2.4/4 for ABC. NBC's 2.9 million viewers and 1.8/3 beat the 1.3/2 and 2.17 million viewers for FXO.

7 p.m. – The night's biggest audience went to CBS' “60 Minutes,” which averaged 7.72 million viewers to win the 7 p.m. hour, also tying for the lead with a 0.9 rating among adults 18-49. ABC's “America's Funniest Home Videos” repeat also did a 0.9 key demo rating and finished second with 4.8 million viewers. NBC's “American Ninja Warrior” encore was third with 2.56 million viewers and a 0.6 key demo rating, beating the 1.23 million viewers and 0.5 key demo rating for repeats of “Bob's Burgers” and “American Dad” on FOX.

8 p.m. – “Big Brother” won the 8 p.m. hour with 6.38 million viewers and had the night's best key demo number with a 2.1 rating among adults 18-49. ABC's “Wipeout” was second with 3.85 million viewers and tied for third with a 1.0 key demo rating. NBC's “American Ninja Warrior” was third with 3.6 million viewers and second with a 1.1 key demo rating. FOX's repeats of “The Simpsons” finished fourth with 2.29 million viewers and tied for third with a 1.0 key demo rating.

9 p.m. – “Unforgettable” built on its lead-in overall and averaged 6.41 million viewers and tied for second with a 1.0 rating among adults 18-49. ABC's “Rising Star” averaged 4.06 million viewers and a 1.0 key demo rating. FOX's repeats of “Family Guy” and “American Dad” finished third with 2.99 million viewers and won the hour with a 1.5 key demo rating. A “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit” repeat was fourth with 2.64 million viewers and a 0.7 key demo rating.

10 p.m. – “Reckless” won the 10 p.m. hour overall for CBS with 4.07 million viewers and also tied for the hour lead with a 0.6 rating among adults 18-49. ABC's “Castle” repeat did 3.58 million viewers and a 0.6 key demo rating, while NBC's “Chicago PD” repeat did 2.81 million viewers and a 0.6 key demo rating.
